The real world is spectacularly diverse, and fiction should represent that. But how can you accurately portray this reality if you're not part of the underrepresented group(s) you're writing about and if you haven't lived their experiences? How do you keep from writing stereotypes and tired tropes?
If you're writing outside your own experience and culture, diversity readers (aka sensitivity readers) can help you identify bias, stereotypes, and inauthenticity.
Our readers are available to evaluate any kind of project—fiction, nonfiction, video game transcripts, plays, screenplays, websites, videos, menus, social media posts, emails, etc.
Each reader has signed a nondisclosure agreement (attached below under Links & Forms) that guarantees your manuscript remains confidential.
Quiethouse diversity readers set their own rates based on the word count and an estimate of how many hours the work will require.
The minimum rate is $75. Full-length texts usually fall between $0.005 and $0.007 per word, per reader.
We do accept partial reads, if the portion is able to be evaluated without the context of the full manuscript.
